Flight Training

Your Certified Flying Instructor [CFI] will take you through a well defined training program which covers the following: Basic control of the aircraft including straight and level flight, turning, climbs and descents. Early in your training you will be controlling the aircraft during take off.

When these basic skills are accomplished you will move on to landing the aircraft.

When you instructor is fully confident in your ability to land the aircraft he will allow you to fly the aircraft by yourself . You will remember your first "solo" for all time !

After a number of hours practicing landings by yourself, your CFI will rejoin you in the cockpit to teach all about flying cross-country. Several cross country flights are made with your instructor, who will sign your logbook to fly cross country by yourself.

A few more stages are still needed to get your license, a few hours flying at night and being given three hours of instruction in flying the aircraft by its instruments.

While all this has been going on, you will have also learned the use of the aircraft radio and navigation equipment and flown in and out of busy tower controlled airports. And you will have visited an FAA designated testing center to take your written exam.

Finally when your CFI is satisfied that you are ready he / she will endorse your log book confirming that you are sufficiently proficient to pass your Private check ride with an FAA Examiner.

The FAA check ride should not over concern you; your instructor will not pass you off unless you are truly ready. So go for it, pass the check ride and join the ranks of the few that have earned their Private Flying License.

Enjoy ... You have earned the freedom of the skies.

And .... Fly safe ... You did it with the Taylorcraft Flying Club.
